Week 3
Tough Competition
Our team is at a point where we can split, divide and conquer. Our coaching staff is advanced and one of the best in the area and our team is big enough that we can start to experiment with different competitions that are better suited for each member! We sent one half of the team to Providence and the other half visited local rival Milford.
In Providence it was obvious our lineup faced its toughest challenge yet. We wanted to get an early look at the levels of our sport and we challenged the very top teams in our region. Some of those teams are made up of multiple teams creating a lineup specifically for the highest competitions around. As the KWK lineup was not a full lineup we started behind the scoreboard in many matches. But despite being in difficult situation our team battled and every wrestler came out with a win or some great wrestling! To go to that tournament and get 2 wins was a huge accomplishment as we won't see many of those kids again until Youth New England’s in March! Its important that we realize there are levels to this and we begin to work towards that!
In Milford we were able to take our U10 kids in the morning and get about 4-5 matches with kids. Then we moved on to the duals. We didn’t fill a lineup and so our team competed against other starting lineups with a mix of kids from Milford. It should be noted that our non-starters went into Milford and competed! I’m very proud of them for going out and learning and having some fun. If you only win and learn, then our first match was spent learning. And our kids do have to learn the lesson and difference between practice and competition. And after the first match our kids did a FABULOUS job wrestling and fighting. I am very proud of our kids for what they did in Milford!
This Week Coming Up
https://www.kryptoniteklub.com/schedule
Practice on both Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday as normal. We can also send our kids on Friday to a Tri-Meet at New England Gold (Franklin). We were invited to wrestle against Johnston, RI and NEG. Tonight I will gauge interest as it is Friday night 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM. Both Youth and Middle School can attend and again is free for us!
I’m also going to cancel the Christmas Eve practice. I’ve never done it before and figured why start now. Be with family and friends!
Our next events are great and a chance again to split our team. January 7th we are going to both New England Gold Novice Tournament (U10 First Year Wrestlers) and a Milford Quad where the rest of the team can go. The NEG Novice Tournament is the PERFECT event for our first year U10 kids. A great opportunity to get those kids' competition for them specifically. Registration information will be sent out in the next email.
KWK Tournament
Our Tournament is coming up too! This season is actually about to go VERY FAST!!!
Essentially two main things you have to do. Register your athlete for the tournament and sign up through our sign up genius. This is our fundraiser for the team. We ask that parents donate to the concession stand and volunteer to work the event. YOU WILL NOT MISS MATCHES! We do a really good job of making sure that doesn’t happen.
We have a code for registration that wipes the cost to register for the KWK Tournament.
This is the same code used for the Matches Not Medals Registration too.
