North Attleboro Youth Wrestling Takes Second in the Section and Top 10 in the State!
For the first time ever the Kryptonite Wrestling Klub entered the postseason represented by its towns. On February 11th the North Attleboro Youth Wrestling team traveled to the USA Wrestling Massachusetts South Sectional Tournament in Somerset, MA. Two divisions competed as the U12 and U15 wrestlers took to the mat in the first of the championship series. In order to qualify for the next leg in the postseason, the athletes had to place top 6 in this section.
The day was started by the U12 team and they kicked things off with an awesome accomplishment! Every single U12 wrestler from North Attleborough qualified for States. A feat that represents the depth this team has to offer. Team scores are tallied from the representatives who place at the tournament. North Attleboro Youth Wrestling took Second in the Section and proudly has a trophy in Next Movement to show for it! This accomplishment was a massive group effort as many first year wrestlers and veterans wrestled tough throughout the day to combine for huge results! Taking third was Aj Silverstein, Callen Little, Ethan Conchard-Freitas, Max Lurie, and Omer Peterson!
In the afternoon the U15 team came in to finish the day off. As a unit this group placed 5th in the section. Mace Bancroft was in a Round Robin bracket in Sectionals and came away with a 2-1 record for a second place finish. He has been working hard in the room but more than anything he is constantly looking to extend matches no matter who he is wrestling. Having fun and working hard pays off! Other Highlights came from the individual efforts of Aschiwat Dempsey, Ryan Gill and Nathaniel Robin. Aschi and Ryan both battled back after a first round loss to place third in the Section. Gill’s biggest challenge may have come from his final match of the day wrestling his daily drill partner Jonel Cruz in the Consolation Finals. Nathaniel Robin, a first year wrestler, shocked the field by hammering his way to the Sectional Finals, with 3 straight pins heading into his last match for the day! Robin would finish the event second in the Section and with a great head of steam going into the State Tournament the next week!
As the rest of the U15 wrestlers competed, many of our first year wrestlers showed grit as they came away with wins and placed in a really difficult tournament. Logan Thornhill Noviello, Nolan Harrington, and Tommy Tetreault all placed in their first time competing at the Sectional Tournament and punched their tickets to States!

Kryptonite Wrestling Travels North to Methuen for the State Tournament
The following week we found ourselves on Ranger Road competing against the very best our state has to offer. Methuen was the host of one of the most difficult tournaments of the year, and our team came and wrestled tough.
Sending a total of 15 wrestlers to States we have 2 from this group moving on to the Youth New England Tournament on March 15 - 17. Many of our wrestlers lost in what is called the “blood rounds” of the tournament missing the placement round by one match. 4 of our U12 wrestlers and 6 of our U15 wrestlers fell just shy of placing.
However, Max Lurie and Nathaniel Robin both placed at States and will be traveling to Fitchburg to take on the very best our region has to offer! Max started the tournament with a difficult first round but found himself grinding in the consolation rounds winning 3 straight matches to finish the day in 3rd! Nathaniel won his first two matches and found himself in the Semi-Finals. This alone landed him in the regional tournament. He won his next match and fell just short of a third place finish.

Wrestlers Always Looking to Improve
The following week we took a trip to North Andover, MA for the Big East Tournament. This is for any athletes who did not qualify for states. We sent 3 wrestlers, Kevin Chawan, Max Hull and Phin Keating. These three represented us so well and this tournament is the best opportunity for our athletes to get competitive matches where they can improve! Phin wrestled well and placed 5th in his respective bracket while Kevin took 3rd (2nd if you count wrestlers who were supposed to be there).
Looking Ahead
Coaches are so proud of our wrestlers and we are excited about what they can accomplish next!
Coming up next is the Matches Not Medals event on March 10th. Then the Regional Tournament Youth New Englands. They just added a U8 division on top of the U10, U12 and U15! So we now qualify more of our athletes.
The season isn’t over yet as we continue to practice and improve we have a lot going on! Continue coming for practice!
We then go into our Spring Session which is going to be PACKED with new opportunities and really fun travel tournaments. Registration for that is up and we are looking forward to seeing those interested in continuing to improve throughout the season!
